Elementary Schools
Students are inspired to become writers, researchers, photographers, and backyard birders! They will learn fun facts about baby hummingbirds. Presentations include (1) a book reading or a slideshow of photographs and videos; (2) a discussion on writing a book, photography, and baby hummingbirds; and (3) an art or natural science activity.
TK-Grade 3
a book reading, a question-and-answer session, and a hummingbird art project.
Grades 4-6
a presentation on baby hummingbirds with photographs and videos; a question-and-answer session; and hummingbird observation worksheets.
Middle Schools and High Schools
a presentation on how Susanne photographed, wrote, and published a children’s picture book on hummingbirds (e.g., photographing and organizing pictures, observing and documenting baby hummingbirds, designing the layout of the book, writing and researching the story, and publishing the book).
Homeschooling and Families
